Section 504 / Dyslexia
We welcome any suggestions you may have that will improve this page. The updates address recent legislative changes and clarify processes regarding identification and services for students, including students with dysgraphia. The updated Dyslexia Handbook is effective immediately. The handbook contains guidelines for school districts to follow as they identify and provide services for students with dyslexia.
In addition, information regarding the state's dyslexia statutes and their relation to various federal laws is included. In an effort to better understand the reporting procedures used by districts and open-enrollment charter schools with regard to the PEIMS dyslexia indicator as well as to determine whether the guidance provided to districts is sufficient to ensure that students with dyslexia and related disorders are correctly reported,TEA contracted with American Institutes for Research AIR to conduct a study of dyslexia reporting.
